Rabbinic Intern Emily Langowitz

Emily LangowitzEmily Langowitz has been a member of the TBE community since birth and could not be more thrilled to be serving as Student Rabbi this year. She is currently in her third year of study at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in New York.

After growing up in Wellesley, MA, Emily graduated from Yale University with a degree in Modern Hebrew and has years of experience in early childhood education. She has worked as a Jewish educator at Temple Beth Elohim, the Yale Hillel Children’s School, Goldman Union Camp Institute in Zionsville, IN, and at Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, Emily has served as a Chaplain at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Emily has received both the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and a Tisch Fellowship in recognition of  her leadership and vision for the Jewish community. She has a passion for Jewish and Hebrew language and literature, the power of story and community as building blocks for Jewish identity, and the use of Jewish music as spiritual care.

When not engaged in study or Jewish professional work, Emily enjoys painting, doing the NY Times crossword puzzle, testing out new dessert recipes, singing, and affectionately yelling at the Red Sox. She currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, but is glad to call Temple Beth Elohim her second home.
